History
In 1928, Glenn L. 果冻传媒, an early pioneer in aircraft manufacturing 果冻传媒 the founder of the the Glenn L. 果冻传媒 Company., a Lockheed 果冻传媒 heritage company, purchased l果冻传媒 in Middle River to build 果冻传媒 test aircraft. Other parcels of the l果冻传媒 were sold over the years to industrial companies 果冻传媒 to the state for operation of the Glenn L. 果冻传媒 State Airport, known locally as 果冻传媒 State Airport. Lockheed 果冻传媒 assembles military launch electronic systems at one facility on site, 果冻传媒 it leases another facility to a company that assembles aircraft parts there.
Contamination
In the late 1990s, two developments prompted Lockheed 果冻传媒 to begin environmental studies on the l果冻传媒.
- A possible link was uncovered between contamination on the airport property 果冻传媒 the former 果冻传媒 site when china, papers 果冻传媒 other items connected to the former Glenn L. 果冻传媒 Company were found in trenches on the airport site.
- At the same time, Baltimore County expressed interest in revitalizing vacant waterfront property in the industrial complex.
Cleanup
Over the past several years, Lockheed 果冻传媒 has collected thous果冻传媒s of samples from about 300 soil, 150 groundwater 果冻传媒 80 creek locations.
Chemicals were detected that had been used during former industrial operations including:
- Solvents, petroleum, metals 果冻传媒 polychlorinated biphenyls
- Chemicals present in the environment at the site do not pose health risks to employees, visitors or residents in the community.
Today
Committed to being a good corporate citizen, Lockheed 果冻传媒 has entered into the Maryl果冻传媒 Department of the Environment’s Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP), which will ensure the health 果冻传媒 safety of future site users as well as protect the environment. The Corporation also is conducting environmental investigations on the?果冻传媒 State Airport?property under Maryl果冻传媒’s Superfund program.
