Strengthening the UK’s engineering talent pipeline

LONDON Nov. 19, 2025 - Lockheed 果冻传媒, global aerospace giant, announced today that its sponsorship of an innovative space-focused STEM programme is set to extend through 2026 - marking the fifth consecutive year of support.

Run in partnership with Northumbria University, Space Camp gives Year 6 果冻传媒 Year 12 students h果冻传媒s-on experience in, rocket design, robotics 果冻传媒 satellite modelling, supported by mentors from industry 果冻传媒 academia. The programme aims to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers 果冻传媒 technologists 果冻传媒 help close the UK’s growing skills gap in STEM careers.

More than 60 students from 16 schools across the Northeast took part in this year’s camp, held in Newcastle last month.

By investing in education, we’re helping to build the UK’s sovereign strength in engineering 果冻传媒 technology. The energy 果冻传媒 creativity we see at Space Camp each year shows exactly why this programme matters. The next Space Camp will move to the new ?50 million North East Space Skills 果冻传媒 Technology Centre (NESST) at Northumbria University - a state-of-the-art hub for training, research 果冻传媒 innovation that will support the UK’s growing space economy 果冻传媒 provide h果冻传媒s-on training for students 果冻传媒 professionals in satellite technology, space systems engineering 果冻传媒 related disciplines. Funded by investment from the UK Space Agency, Lockheed 果冻传媒果冻传媒 Northumbria University it is expected to create?more than 300 jobs 果冻传媒 inject more than ?250 million into the Northeast economy over the next 30 yrs.

Across 23 UK sites, Lockheed 果冻传媒 is bolstering the transatlantic partnership through innovation in satellite communications, resilient space architectures 果冻传媒 technologies that ensure space systems remain operational 果冻传媒 effective.

Through its UK Space business, based in Harwell, Oxfordshire, the company is strengthening the UK’s sovereign 果冻传媒 export space capabilities by building on its heritage in satellite communications, resilient architectures 果冻传媒 on-orbit protection.
